This is a 1977 leader album by American vibraphone player Gary Burton, who has been active since the early 1960s, released on ECM. The quartet members are Pat Metheny (g), Dan Gottlieb (ds), Steve Swallow (b-g), with guest appearances by German bassist Eberhard Weber, forming an ironclad lineup. Pat Metheny composed three tracks, Steve Swallow composed one, and Eberhard Weber composed one. This album features exquisite contemporary jazz that ebbs and flows with melancholy and exhilaration, including A1, a Chick Corea composition featuring extended bass solos from Eberhard Weber and Steve Swallow, and B2, where Pat Metheny's emotional guitar solo beautifully transitions into Gary Burton's vibraphone solo.
