Passengers

ECM 1092 (LP)
sleeve : VG+(some dirts on back)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly noise)

Released on ECM in 1977, this album as a leader is by American vibraphonist Gary Burton, who had been active since the early 1960s. The formidable lineup features Pat Metheny on guitar, Dan Gottlieb on drums, Steve Swallow on bass guitar, with German bassist Eberhard Weber appearing as a guest. Among the compositions, Metheny contributes three pieces, while Swallow and Weber each contribute one. Highlights include A1, composed by Chick Corea and featuring extended bass solos from both Weber and Swallow, and B2, the title track from Weber’s 1976 masterpiece, which beautifully moves from Metheny’s deeply emotive guitar solo into Burton’s vibraphone. Throughout the album, melancholy and exhilaration ebb and flow like waves, creating superb contemporary jazz of the highest order.
German pressing with an unlaminated sleeve.

A1: Sea Journey
B2: Yellow Fields
