Released in 1974, this album by the Gary Burton Quintet features Pat Metheny on guitar, Steve Swallow on bass, Bob Moses on drums, and Mick Goodrick on guitar.
Burton’s fluid vibraphone playing and the wonderful interplay between Metheny and Goodrick are set within the transparent, spacious sound so characteristic of ECM. Metheny’s relatively straight-ahead playing on twelve-string guitar sounds strangely fresh here.
Moses’s drumming is equally superb, particularly the beautifully captured resonance of his hi-hat and cymbals. A highly fluid and thoroughly enjoyable work of contemporary jazz.
