An album released by Gary McFarland in 1963 on Verve, showcasing his talents as a vibraphonist, arranger, and music director, which he had demonstrated since the early 1960s through his participation in various groups and recordings. This album features a septet, including Bill Evans (piano), Jim Hall (guitar), Phil Woods (reeds), Spencer Sinatra (reeds), Richard Davis (bass), and Ed Shaughnessy (drums), augmented by a string quartet in an orchestral arrangement. The recordings were made in 1963 at Webster Hall in New York City. The refined compositions and arrangements are exceptional, evoking a cinematic quality that suggests storytelling and visual imagery, making it a historical masterpiece in moody jazz. The album was reissued domestically in 1993 as part of Polydor's "LP Meiban Collection of Verve."
