Released in 1983, this album is by the Globe Unity Orchestra, led by pianist Alexander von Schlippenbach. Alongside long-standing members including Albert Mangelsdorff, Günter Christmann, Kenny Wheeler, and Evan Parker, the remarkable lineup also features Toshinori Kondo, George Lewis, Alan Silva, and others. Recorded in 1982 at the Radio France studios in Paris, the performance opens with a profoundly quiet soundscape shrouded in a dense, mysterious atmosphere. The tension gradually mounts before erupting into a tremendous climax and final resolution. A superb performance that reveals a compelling narrative within the total freedom of collective improvisation. Original German pressing.
