This album was recorded in 1964 by Jimmy Smith, an American Hammond organist who began his career in the 1950s and established his own unique style with his distinctive playing technique, which greatly influenced future generations. This is a masterpiece of soul jazz featuring a brass orchestra with Lalo Schifrin as arranger/conductor. The title track A2, composed by Schifrin, is known as a club jazz classic, and of course, you can enjoy the bluesy groove of the gorgeous arrangement in all parts of the album. This is a domestic reissue released in 1973 from Polydor's <Modern Jazz Verve Best> series.
