The New George Otsuka Trio
You Are My Sunshine
Three Blind Mice (Japan) 1974
TBM-35 (LP) Original pressing. w/booklet.
sleeve : VG+(some wear on edge and corner, light collapse on one corner, slightly dirts and spots.)
media : EX-/EX(some slightly noise. side A has three light wear that does not affect to sounds.)
An album released in 1974 on Three Blind Mice by Japanese drummer George Otsuka, who first came to prominence in 1957 with Sadao Watanabe’s group and later played an active role as a member of the Hidehiko Matsumoto Quartet from 1964. Performed as a trio with Hideo Ichikawa (piano) and Naosuke Miyamoto (bass), the record presents superb, authentic jazz that unfolds in a consistently relaxed atmosphere. Highlights include the title track A1, a cover of an American popular song, as well as B1, a standard famously sung by Judy Garland in the musical film The Wizard of Oz. Particularly noteworthy is B2: a gospel-tinged rhythm & blues tune composed by Willie Woods—recorded by The Three Sounds in 1965 and later by Jr. Walker & The All Stars in 1973—here skillfully arranged for piano trio without sacrificing the original groove. Original pressing with booklet included.
A1: You are My Sunshine
A2: Willow Weep for Me
B1: Over the Rainbow
B2: Hot Cha
