The Original 5 Blind Boys of Mississippi, a vocal group of blind singers who formed around 1940 as The Jackson Harmoneers and whose members included singer Archie Brownlee, a singer of extraordinary talent. This album was released in 1961. This is the only album released on the Checker label, fronted by a young Roscoe Robinson who joined the group after the death of Archie Brownlee. This is a rare opportunity to experience the essence of gospel soul, which is filled with the roots of black music.
