The Last Poets, a political action poetry group formed by Jalaluddin Mansur Nuriddin in the late 1960s during the African-American Civil Rights Movement, is featured on this album, the soundtrack to a film directed by Herbert Danska. Nuriddin left the group before this album, and Gylan Kain, David Nelson, and Felipe Luciano recorded the album. The album is a groovy poetization of the spirit of Black Nationalism, backed by a simple percussion beat, a strong personality that undeniably reminds us of the dawn of rap music.
