Formed around British composer Simon Jeffes, who lived in Japan during the 1970s, Penguin Cafe Orchestra released their debut album in 1976 on Brian Eno’s Obscure label. From the very first work, their unique style—colored by a curious worldview that could be described as a synthesis of contemporary music/chamber music and neo-acoustic—appears vividly. The artwork by Emily Young, newly adopted for the worldwide release, eloquently reflects that sonic universe. This is the first Japanese edition, released in 1982, and comes with a flyer announcing their Japan tour.
