This album was released in 1976 by The Tokyo Quartet, consisting of Keiko Abe (marimba), Ryu Noguchi (ft), Motoei Miyajima (cl), Mahiko Tanaka (cb), and Makoto Ariga (per). The album was produced using the Dyna Sound 45 technology, a unique method of cutting 45 rpm from a 76cm/s master tape. A1 is a quintet composed by Akira Miyoshi for the group, commissioned by Nippon Roche; A2 is a piece for flute, double bass, and percussion composed by Ryohei Hirose in 1973, commissioned by Nippon Columbia. B1 is a quartet for marimba, contrabass, clarinet, and percussion composed by Joji Yuasa, also commissioned by Nippon Columbia. Both are excellent pieces that offer a glimpse into the unique ideas of Japan's leading composers and performers. The sound quality is also realistic.
