An album released in 1982 by The Tony Rice Unit, a group led by American guitarist Tony Rice. The lineup includes his brother Wyatt Rice (g), Todd Phillips (b), John Reischman (mandolin), Fred Carpenter (vl), and Richard Greene (vl). In addition to Rice’s own original compositions, the album features a cover of Dave Grusin’s piece on side A1 and a standard famously performed by John Coltrane on side B1. Rooted in traditional bluegrass derived from Scottish and Irish folk music, the group develops a style of new acoustic music infused with jazz influences. The result is a refreshing, comfortable sound reminiscent of artists such as Darol Anger and Mike Marshall, known for their releases on the Windham Hill label.
