This is the first album and unknown masterpiece by Norwegian guitarist Thorgeir Stubo, who passed away in 1986 at the age of 43, with a quintet of local Norwegian musicians including Henning Gravrok (ts,ss), Terje Bjorklund (p,el-p), Bjorn Alterhaug (b) and Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk (ds). Except for A3 by Hammerstein-Kern known for "Show Boat" and B2, a cover of Duke Pearson's song, all the songs are original compositions by Stubo and the participating members, ranging from mode-developed cool jazz to rhythmic, folk-influenced, crossover jazz. Produced and engineered by Jan Erik Kongsaug, who is well known for his ECM recordings, the sound quality is very atmospheric.
