Tiziana Simona & Kenny Wheeler
ITM Records (Germany) 1986
0014 (LP)
sleeve : EX+
media : EX/EX-(a slight dust noise,B:very light scratches that do not affect the playback sound)

Tiziana Simona, one of my favorite Italian female jazz singers along with Tiziana Ghiglioni, released a duo album in 1986 on ITM Records with Kenny Wheeler, a Canadian flugelhorn player who has released many good albums on ECM Records including Azimuth and solo works. The quintet includes Jean-Jacques Avenel (b), Nene Limafilho (dr, per), and Giuseppina Runza (cello). The contrast between the gentle waltz beat and the subtle melodic line is pleasing on A1, Kenny Wheeler's freaky trumpet reminiscent of Don Cherry is dangerous on A2/B3, and Jean-Jacques Avenel's bass solo creates a dense atmosphere. Tiziana Simona's husky voice shakes your heart directly on this experimental track.

A1: 5 4 6
B1: Diva
