Tiziana Simona, one of my personal favorite Italian fimeir jazz singers along with Tiziana Ghiglioni, has released a duo album with Kenny Wheeler, a Canadian flugelhorn player who has released many quality albums on ECM Records, including Azimuth and solo works. The quintet features Jean-Jacques Avenel (b), Nene Limafilho (dr, per), and Giuseppina Runza (cello). The contrast between the gentle waltz beat and the subtle scale of the melody line on A1 is very pleasing, Kenny Wheeler's freaky trappings reminiscent of Don Cherry on A2/B3 are badass, and Jean-Jacques Avenel's bass solo on A2/B3 is very atmospheric and depressing. B2, in which Tiziana sings with rich emotion and expression, backed by Jean-Jacques Avenel's bass solo, is a wonderful piece of experimental music with Tiziana Simona's husky voice that shakes your heart directly.

A1: 5 4 6
B1: Diva
