This album was released in 1970 as the seventh installment in the "Contemporary Japanese Music" series by Nippon Columbia. It features Akira Miyoshi's 1960 work "Trois Mouvements Symphoniques" and Toru Takemitsu's 1961 work "Ki No Kyoku (Tree Music)," performed by the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Akeo Watanabe. The highlight of the album is undoubtedly Takemitsu's "Ki No Kyoku (Tree Music)." Takemitsu, known for his works that transform natural phenomena into music, such as "Water Music" (1959) and "Water Scenery," introduced in the "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION," showcases serial music in this piece through fragmentary depictions where short phrases appear and disappear.
