This album was released in 1973 as the second installment of the <Miniatur> series by Toru Takemitsu, a composer that Japan proudly presents to the world. It includes compositions from 1970, "Eucalypus" (B1/B2), 1971, "Voice" (A2), and "Stanza II" (A3), and 1972, "Distance" (A1). The performers include Heinz Holliger (oboe), Ursula Holliger (harp), Aurele Nicolet (flute), Tada Tadashi (sho), and the Basel Ensemble. A2, featuring occasional breath sounds and voices that feel very primitive, possibly indicated in the score for solo flute, and A3, which aims for avant-garde territory using the classical instrument harp and tape, utilizing cutting-edge technology of that time, are particularly noteworthy.
A1: Distance
A3: Stanza II
