This is a 4-disc box set released in 1966, compiling a collection of compositions by the renowned Japanese composer Toru Takemitsu, who transcended the boundaries of contemporary music with a variety of experimental approaches. The works included in this set span from his earliest composition, the piano piece "Uninterrupted Rest" from 1952, to tape music like "Vocalism A.I" composed in 1956, orchestral compositions like "Requiem for String Orchestra" from 1957, film music from "Kaidan" composed in 1965, and traditional Japanese music in the form of "Eclipse" composed in 1966, among other major works, totaling 14 pieces. The artwork for this set is created by poet Shuzo Takiguchi, who is the head of an experimental workshop. The accompanying large booklet contains comments from notable figures such as John Cage and Iannis Xenakis, liner notes by Kenzaburo Oe and Hidekazu Yoshida, as well as an analysis of the compositions by Kuniharu Akiyama.
