In the early 1950s, the renowned Japanese composer and contemporary musician, Toshirō Mayuzumi, who introduced Musique concrète, electronic music, and avant-garde music to Japan and was also influenced by them, released an album considered to be his masterpiece, the "Nirvana Symphony," in 1962. This composition, created between 1957 and 1958, is performed by the NHK Symphony Orchestra and is a three-part suite. It is one of a series of compositions that depict the Buddhist world. In this work, Wilhelm Schuchter conducts, and the NHK Symphony Orchestra performs. This likely was released in the mid-1960s and comes with an obi, booklet, and original inner sleeve, making it a complete package.
