A project centered around jazz guitarist Christy Doran, born in Dublin, Ireland, and later moved to Switzerland. The project, titled 'Under Control,' featured Claude Jordan (el-ft), Oliver Magenat (b), and Claude Tabarini (ds, vo) and released its only album in 1985. While Doran is known for popular live albums like 'May 84,' where he collaborated with Norma Winstone, Dom Um Romao, and Trilok Gurtu, this particular release takes a different turn, exploring experimental free jazz-rock with a super-heavy groove throughout. The adjective 'jazz' no longer seems adequate, given the overwhelming aggressiveness of the play. This vibe eventually connects to the album 'Musik for Zwei Kontrabasse, Elektrische Gitarre und Schlagzeug,' released on ECM in 1990. Highly recommended for those who appreciate the style of Fred Frith.
