The Star Studded World of Ustad Vilayat Khan
His Master’s Voice EMI (India) 1976
ECSD 2772 (LP)
sleeve : VG+(SRW, WC, SPSE:5cm crack on side/1cm crack on bottom, wear on corner, WC/SOC on label.)

Released in 1976, this album by Ustad Vilayat Khan, one of India's foremost sitar players, who made his first recording on SP at the age of just eight and went on to record close to 100 works in a career that spanned more than 60 years, features tabla player Pt. Kishan Maharaj. On the A-side "Raga Alhaiya Bilawal", a full scale celebrated morning melody with a lustrous and fine sitar melody that fills the sound field from the very beginning. The B-side "Raga-Puriya" is a similarly celebrated melody of perennial beauty, with a complex combination of characters. Both are wonderfully played, with a very taut and extended sound.

A: Raga Alhaiya Bilawal
B: Raga-Puriya
