This album was released as the fourth installment of the compilation series "ECM Special," a unique project by Trio Records that produced Japanese editions of ECM Records releases starting from the mid-1970s. Focusing on percussion, this work features selected tracks from various ECM albums. These include two tracks from Collin Walcott's 'Cloud Dance,' one track from 'Grazing Dreams,' one track each from Edward Vesala's 'The Way of Vesala' and 'Satu,' one track each from Jack DeJohnette's 'Picture' and 'Untitled,' one track from Keith Jarrett and Jack Dejohnette's 'Ruta and Daitya,' and one track from Paul Motian's 'Conception Vessel.'
This compilation offers an exceptional opportunity to experience the ethnically-infused ECM style of ethnic jazz, filled with a sense of cultural heritage.
