This album, released in 1976 as part of a series showcasing the nonlinear PCM recording technology developed by Nippon Columbia, focuses on traditional Japanese taiko drumming. Recorded in high-quality audio with powerful impact, the album features performances such as tracks A1 and A2 by Daihachi Oguchi and the Osuwa Daiko ensemble—originating from the festival music and kagura-bayashi traditions of Suwa City in Nagano Prefecture, home to the renowned Suwa Taisha Shrine, famous for its sacred pillar festival and mountain worship practices. Also included are thunderous performances by the Sado-based demon drumming group Ondekoza, known worldwide, as well as Ogura Gion Daiko, Edo festival taiko, Chichibu yatai-bayashi, and Uchidaeshi-daiko.

A1: 小口大八と御諏訪太鼓 “諏訪御柱木遣り〜飛竜三段返し
B2: 佐渡新穂村青年団 “佐渡の鬼太鼓”
