Album released in 1980 on Denon's <Series, Contemporary Japanese Music, 1500>. Performed by the Tokyo Solisten, conducted by Kazuyoshi Akiyama. Includes chamber music pieces by Matsushita Shinichi, Fukushima Kazuo, Moroi Makoto and Hirayoshi Kishu. A1 by Matsushita is a representative work composed in 1968, which develops from a mysterious flute-driven first half to a cosmic second half with the introduction of piano and vibraphone. A2 by Fukushima was composed in 1962 and consists of piano, percussion and five string instruments. B1 by Moroi was composed in 1962 on commission from Asahi Broadcasting Corporation of Osaka, using the Selyel technique, a successor to the New Vienna School. B2 by Hirayoshi was commissioned by Nippon Columbia in 1970. All pieces are easy to listen to, chamber-like works with the impression that the flute is placed at the centre.
A1: 松下真一 "星たちの息吹き"
B2: 平吉毅州 "木管五重奏のためのエスキース"
