This album is part of the "Folk Music Series" supervised by Fumio Koizumi, Japan's leading researcher on world folk music, and music critic Toyo Nakamura, who has introduced a variety of world music to Japan mainly through Music Magazine. This is a recording of the song and dance music of the Melanesian islands of the New Hebrides, located in the southwest Pacific Ocean north of Australia, released in 1973. In addition to songs that sound like a more primitive version of Hawaiian, there are also songs whose rhythms have an American country music feel to them. I don't think it's their roots, and it's a mystery to me, but anyway, it's all warm and fuzzy warmblood music with very simple string melodies and a proper chorus.

A1: ポート・ヴィラの親善の歌
