This historic album contains recordings of concerts held in 1968 by Toru Takemitsu and Toshi Ichiyanagi, two of Japan's leading figures in 20th century contemporary music. Six Elements" by Yuji Takahashi, performed by Saburo Ueki, Ken Itabashi, Kiichiro Mamine, and Yasutaka Watanabe; "Piano Phase" by Steve Reich, performed by Toshi Ichiyanagi and Yukio Tsuchiya; and "Concert for Prepared Piano and Chamber Orchestra" by John Cage, performed by Toshi Ichiyanagi and the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Piano Phase" performed by Steve Reich, and "Concert for Prepared Piano and Chamber Orch. All of them are brilliant performances that shine brilliantly in the history of Japanese contemporary music, but the one that deserves special attention is B1, in which Toshi Ichiyanagi and Yukio Tsuchiya brilliantly perform minimalist music, the best of Steve Reich's phase-shifting compositions played by human forces. The live recording is full of realism. The artwork, which has an outstanding visual effect that causes halos, is also excellent. Original 1st pressing with gatefold sleeve. There is a stain inside the spread, but the surface is clean.
