A three-LP box set released in 1979 as part of the Denon PCM Recording series, which showcased Denon's cutting-edge PCM recording technology at the time. This collection focuses on performances of traditional Japanese instruments: Side A features the shamisen, Side B the flute, Side C the koto, Side D the shakuhachi, Side E the tsuzumi (hand drum), and Side F Japanese ensemble percussion (hayashi). Notable performances include B5, where flutist Yoshio Nakagawa—brother of Suihō Tosha, who released the masterpiece Glass Flute in 1979—collaborates with the hayashi ensemble of Mikihisa Katada III. Another highlight is F1, featuring a stunning ensemble performance with flutes by Suihō Tosha and Yoshio Nakagawa, kotsuzumi (small hand drum) by Narutoshi Tosha, ōtsuzumi (large hand drum) by Mitsuharu Senba, and another ōtsuzumi by Roetsu Tosha. A truly remarkable collection throughout. Includes an 8-page booklet.
