A live recording of the World Music Meeting, performed at the New Jazz Meeting Baden-Baden held in Mainz, Germany, in 1984. The extraordinary lineup brings together musicians who had long explored the boundaries between jazz and traditional music, including Hozan Yamamoto, Charlie Mariano, Alfred Harth, Karl Berger, and Trilok Gurtu, resulting in an exceptionally high-level performance of ethno-jazz. Oregon percussionist Collin Walcott had originally been scheduled to take part in the meeting, but tragically died in a traffic accident shortly beforehand. One of the pieces performed here is dedicated to his memory. The playing throughout is simply outstanding.
