A superb double LP documenting live performances from the International Jazz Festival held in Zagreb in 1981, bringing together an impressive cast of world-class jazz musicians—alongside leading Yugoslav players such as Peter Ugrin, the lineup includes Clark Terry, Ray Brown, Bud Shank, Laurindo Almeida, Georgie Fame, Fritz Pauer, and Christian Schultze of Passport. Highlights include the stunning B3 by the Karl-Heinz Miklin Trio, whose Austrian roots belie a sound overflowing with Black spirit, and D1 by the trio led by fellow Austrian great Fritz Pauer, delivering a powerful take on a Bud Powell score. A richly atmospheric set throughout, full of the heat and immediacy of the live setting. Highly recommended.
