This is the debut album by the German jazz quartet Voices, released in 1977, following their impressive work on a minor label in 1981. It was released on Mood Records, a label founded by Wolfgang Dauner and Volker Kriegel. The album features the last recordings by saxophonist Gunter Kronberg, who was active in the German jazz scene from the 1960s until his passing in 1977. The album beautifully combines lyrical landscapes typical of German jazz with a spiritually inclined avant-garde jazz style, showcasing remarkable performances throughout. Recorded and mixed at Conny Plank's studio, this hidden gem is a must-listen for fans of ECM.
A1: Mourning Sundown
A2: Poem for Peter T.
