Walt Dickerson & Richard Davis
Divine Gemini
SteepleChase Records (Denmark) 1978
SCS-1089 (LP) Original pressing.
sleeve : EX-(TEOC, some wear on edge and corner, wrinkle on one corner.)
media : EX-/EX-(some slightly noise. side B has light noise caused by very slightly hairlines.)
American vibraphonist Walt Dickerson—one of the leading figures of post-bop since the early 1960s and known for his later masterpieces on Denmark’s SteepleChase label, including collaborations with Sun Ra—teams up here with American bassist Richard Davis, who began his career in the mid-1950s with Sun Shirley’s group, backed Sarah Vaughan, and left behind a classic on Muse Records in 1973. Released in 1978, this album presents a profoundly deep duo performance where the soft overtones of the vibraphone intertwine gently with the rich, resonant tones of the double bass, creating a beautifully floating atmosphere. Exceptionally pleasant sound throughout—highly recommended. Original Danish pressing.
