This is an album released in 1975 by Walt Dickerson, an American vibraphonist who has been active as a standard-bearer of post-bop music since the early 1960s and has released several masterpieces on the Staple Chase label in Denmark, including collaborations with Sun Ra since the late 1970s. This is the first work produced by Whynot, a label founded by Masahiko Yu, a New York-based photographer and jazz connoisseur, under the umbrella of Trio Records in Japan. It was recorded that same year at engineer Frank Virtue's Philadelphia studio. The trio, with Wilbur Ware (b) and Andrew Cyrille (per), performs a long free improvised session with the hard but pleasant sound of the vibraphone moving from side to side in stereo space, and the highly primitive rhythms of drums and bass that come and go like waves.
