Born in Paris, France to Algerian and Lebanese parents, Warda have long been at the forefront of Arabian music scene. The album features works by the Egyptian duo of composer Baligh Hamdy and lyricist Maamoon El Shanawi. It is a live recording of a concert, although the details are unknown. The music is theatrical and story-like, typical of Arab songs, and Warda's vocals are really wonderful, drifting with a slightly withered tone against an exotic background of percussion and strings. Since it was recorded in the mid 70's, you can hear electric guitars and electronic organs from time to time, creating a psychedelic atmosphere.
