This 1977 collaborative album features American drummer/percussionist Warren Smith, known for his work with Sam Rivers and Julius Hemphill as well as teaching at SUNY alongside Ken McIntyre, and Japanese saxophonist Eiji Toki. After cancelling in Japan tour with the Sam Rivers Trio, Warren made a discreet visit to Japan, and this project was one of several that brought him to RVC's studio for an impromptu collaboration with Japanese musicians. The performances were direct cut recordings of free improvisations without any rehearsals. Warren's Afro-primitive drumming is impressive, and Toki's skillful phrasing on alto and soprano saxophones is equally remarkable.
