This is a 1966 album by the American saxophonist Wayne Shorter, who gained prominence after joining Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers in 1959 and later became a key figure in Miles Davis's ensemble. Shorter showcased his talent seamlessly in progressive fusion groups like Weather Report. The album features a quartet with Herbie Hancock (piano), Reggie Workman (bass), and Joe Chambers (drums). The title track, A1, is a funky and groovy piece, while A2 highlights Shorter's saxophone playing with a dry tone, delivering mystic phrases. A3 is an adult-oriented number with a Latin feel, and B2 is a slow tune with a mystical atmosphere. These tracks showcase the refined hard bop sound from a few years before, reflecting Shorter's crossover influences from his time with the Miles Davis group.

A2: 502 Blues (Drinkin’ and Drivin’)
B2: Teru
