This masterpiece album, released in 1976 by American trumpeter Woody Shaw, who participated in sessions with numerous groups such as Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, the Horace Silver Quintet, and the Joe Henderson Quintet, and left many great works with his own group. Produced by Michael Cuscuna, the album features an exceptional lineup of musicians including Billy Harper (tenor sax), Steve Turre (trombone), Rene McLean (soprano sax, alto sax), Joe Bonner (piano), Cecil McBee (bass), Victor Lewis (drums), Guilherme Franco (percussion), and Tony Waters (percussion). Recorded in a New York studio, the album includes tracks like A1, first showcased on Bonner's 1976 masterpiece Angel Eyes, and B3, a re-performance of a track from Harper's 1973 classic Capra Black released by Strata-East. The entire album is filled with exquisite performances brimming with pleasant grooves and a sense of dynamism. This is the original US pressing.
