Released in 1982, this album is by American trumpeter Woody Shaw, who performed with numerous groups including Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, the Horace Silver Quintet, and the Joe Henderson Quintet, while also producing many masterpieces with his own ensembles. The album documents a concert recorded that same year at the Jazz Forum in New York by a sextet featuring Steve Turre on trombone, Mulgrew Miller on piano, Stafford James on bass, Tony Reedus on drums, and Bobby Hutcherson on vibraphone. Highlights include the energetic, hard-driving opening track A1; A2, centered around Hutcherson’s mellow vibraphone; and the superb B2, filled with the lustrous sensuality and emotionally charged groove that represent Shaw at his very best. The performances remain outstanding from beginning to end. The album concludes with a recorded interview with Shaw.

A2: Tomorrow
B2: Sweet Love of Mine
