Originally released in 1973, this third collection in the "Miniatures" series by world-renowned Japanese musician Toru Takemitsu features piano performances throughout by Yuji Takahashi, a contemporary musician/composer/pianist who studied music theory with Iannis Xenakis and is active worldwide alongside Toshi Ichiyanagi and Toru Takemitsu. A1, composed for Australian pianist Roger Woodward; A5, a masterpiece among masterpieces, known as the first performance by Yuji Takahashi; B1, a long piece of more than 23 minutes composed in collaboration with graphic designer Kohei Sugiura with multiple recordings of four pianos. This is a historical masterpiece that you should listen to with your full attention to the continuous movement spun out by silence and quiet sounds.
