An American female singer born in Hawaii, Yvonne Elliman gained attention in 1971 as a singer in the musical Jesus Christ Superstar, where she sang songs that became hits. She later joined Eric Clapton's live band. Her third album, released in 1975, was produced by Steve Cropper, an original member of Stax Records' house band Booker T. & the M.G.'s and a producer known for his work with Jeff Beck, Tower of Power, and Ringo Starr. The album showcases a blend of soul/R&B styles with country/folk-infused pop. It features lavish arrangements, including a string orchestra. The groovy soul tunes A5/B1, where Cropper's style shines, are especially recommended.
A5: Walk Right In
B1: Steady As You Go
