A obscure record has just arrived. This is a 1988 album by Portuguese composer Antonio Emiliano, who has worked on music across various fields, including film, theater, and dance, while also engaging in research as a linguist. Composed in the same year for Gagik Ismailiam, a dancer who became a naturalized citizen of Portugal, the album features exotic melodies and rhythms seemingly inspired by ancient Greek, Spanish, and Portuguese music with Arab influences. The rich soundscape, heavily utilizing string instruments and synthesizers, is truly remarkable. Throughout the album, you'll find a New Age-infused blend of ancient ethno-experimental music, reminiscent of works by Spain’s Luis Delgado and Luis Paniagua, son of Gregorio Paniagua. Highly recommended.
