This is the groundbreaking debut album released in 1963 by the American saxophonist Albert Ayler, who rose to prominence as a pioneer of avant-garde jazz in 1960s New York City. The album features recordings from 1962 in Stockholm, Sweden, with the trio consisting of Torbjorn Hultcrantz (bass) and Sune Spangberg (drums). Ayler deconstructs and reconstructs jazz standards and scores from Sonny Rollins and Miles Davis with his own unique interpretations, delivering overwhelming performances. Ayler's saxophone playing, akin to animal cries, is remarkable, yet what truly sets him apart is the underlying soul that permeates his music. This limited edition was released in 1986 by DIW on picture disc.
