This is the 1981 album by the Brazilian genius artist Egberto Gismonti. It's a double album featuring performances by the quartet group Academia De Dancas, which includes masterful musicians such as Mauro Senie, Zeca Assumpcao, and Nene, as well as solo compositions by Gismonti. Disc 1 exudes the contemporary atmosphere characteristic of ECM while displaying highly progressive composition and development. Gismonti's Brazilian symphonic jazz style is exceptional, with a unique blend of progressive elements. The disc was recorded in Oslo, Norway, and the mixing was done by Jan Erik Kongshaug.
Disc 2 showcases Gismonti's signature highly technical Brazilian guitar style, sometimes pouring down like a squall and at other times filtering through like dappled sunlight. It offers an extremely sensitive musical content. The entire album is dominated by a tense atmosphere, creating a spiritual and organic sonic world. Disc 1 was recorded in Oslo, Norway, with mixing by Jan Erik Kongshaug, while Disc 2 was recorded in Munich, Germany, ECM's headquarters, with mixing by Martin Wieland. These details are also noteworthy.
