An album by Gavin Bryers, released in 1978 on the Obscure label, curated by Brian Eno. This music was composed for an opera created by Tom Phillips, relying on fragments of a novel printed on a 50 cm square piece of paper and a few musical notes. The A-side features minimal music with a gradual progression of gentle scales performed on piano, keyboard percussion, and strings, with collages of sounds like ocean waves. The B-side combines the vocal fragments from the novel with long-tone strings. This is an important work that makes you ponder the question, 'What is ambient?' The first domestic release came in 1982, with an explanation by Gavin Bryers included in the insert, translated by Satoshi Ashikawa.
