This is the debut leader album by American tenor saxophonist Hal Singer, known for his work with his group The Orioles and collaborations with Ernie Fields and Jay McShann. Released in 1959 by Prestige, it features his close friend, trumpeter Charlie Shavers. The quintet includes Ray Bryant (piano), Wendell Marshall (bass), and Osie Johnson (drums), with recording by Rudy Van Gelder. The album showcases Singer's expertise in R&B, delivering performances rich with the essence of New Orleans and funky grooves, embodying soul jazz at its finest. This is likely a US reissue from the late 1980s to early 1990s.
