This album was released in 1982 by Kazuhito Yamashita, a guitarist who debuted in 1977 as the youngest winner of the Paris International Guitar Competition. The album features three pieces: A1, composed by Toru Takemitsu in 1974 and dedicated to Kiyoshi Shomura; A2, written for Yamashita by Katsumi Watanabe, one of the most prominent guitarists in the Japanese jazz world and still active on the world stage, who met Yamashita in 1980; B1, also written for Yamashita by Takashi Yoshimatsu, who was emerging as an up-and-coming composer at the time. The composer Teruyuki Noda wrote a piece for the guitarist Takao Kaneko, which was featured in B2. The A1 piece by Toru Takemitsu goes without saying, but the A2 piece by Katsumi Watanabe is much more contemporary than one would expect from his works.
A1: Folios
A2: Astral Flakes
