An American keyboardist who played on recordings by Roland Kirk and Pharoah Sanders in the 1960s before forming his own group, The Cosmic Echoes, in 1973 and going on to create a number of outstanding works, Lonnie Liston Smith released this album in 1977. Recorded live the same year at Mucker’s Cabaret in Brooklyn, New York, it features live versions of tracks originally released only as 7-inch singles, along with selections from his rare groove classics Visions of a New World and Expansions, both released in 1975. These pieces are performed with the aggressive energy and open, expansive feeling unique to a live setting. Ronald D. Miller’s guitar playing is also absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended from start to finish.
