This Japanese taiko group was led by Yoshitake Aoyagi, who was a member of the Tokyo Cuban Boys and later became the chief priest of the Nouso Hachiman Shrine in Iizuka, Fukuoka Prefecture. The name "Nouso" means "ancestor," and was written and arranged based on the taiko rhythms played in kagura (Shinto music and dance) and shishimai (lion dance), which have been performed in the Chikuzen and Toyomae regions since ancient times. In this work, you can enjoy the beat of the Noku that has a tremendous groove, including Hachiman drums and Shigyo drums from Beppu in Bungonokuni, iaido drums and drums from the Kaiseizan Grand Shrine, and original pieces fused with shigin (a Japanese recitation of a poem). Highly recommended.
