The first album by the American chorus group Rare Silk, consisting of Todd Buffa, Gaile Gillaspie, Marylynn Gillaspie and Barbara Reeves, was released in 1983. Their second album, "American Eyes", was released two years later and featured some very unique material that went beyond a simple jazz chorus, but on this first album, while the focus was on swinging jazz and ballads, the group also tried their hand at lightly arranged crossover jazz and urban jazz funk. The choruses are very pleasant, even on straightforward jazz, making the whole album a pleasure to listen to.
