This is an album of traditional music of the peoples living around the Himalayas, released in 1978 from the famous Nonesuch Exploler Series of Nonesuch, an old American label. The album includes songs and flute playing from the Chamba Kingdom, which has existed for 1,000 years from the 10th century to the 20th century, as well as horn-like instruments with long resonant bodies and drumming from Shimla, near Dharamsala, home of the Dalai Lama who was forced to leave Tibet, and Kullu, located in a canyon. This is a valuable work. The sound and melody of the Shankaral Sharma bansuri, one of the most important instruments in Himachal, is somewhat similar to that of the shakuhachi, and the solo singing of B4 is very similar to Japanese folk songs.
