This album was released in 1987 by Roland Baro, a pianist who has been a leading figure in Cuban jazz since the 1950s. The backing band Orchesta Danzonera includes some of Cuba's most famous musicians such as Carlos Fernandez Averhoff, Manuel Mirabal Vazquez, Demetrio Muniz Lavallee and Oscar Valdes. They performs Baro's original compositions and arrangements of classic songs by Frank Dominguez, Jose Antonio Mendez, Luis Marquetti and many others, give the album a warm, tropical Afro-Cuban charm. Synthesizer sounds can also be heard from time to time. The whole album is recommended.
